Jon Burgess
With more than 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical packaging, Jon Burgess oversees business and operational matters at the Apiject Technology Development Center, including managing Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) and machine shop operations. The facility is focused in working with pharmaceutical companies to design, engineer, and test how to fill-finish injectable drug products in our scalable, single-dose prefilled injector.
From 2016 to 2020, as Nephron Pharmaceuticals Senior R&D Process Manager, Mr. Burgess led a team of R&D engineers responsible for process development, manufacturing support, and equipment acquisition and implementation. He also managed manufacturing projects as well as pharmaceutical development of drugs for production at the facility. He oversaw process development of several inhalation, ophthalmic, and injection drugs filled on Rommelag 460 and Weiler 640 Blow-Fill-Seal machines. He also managed the acquisition, design, and implementation of two Schubert packaging lines valued at over $7 million to be used to expand into the injectables market. He initially served as Nephron’s R&D Mechanical Engineer, ensuring manufacturing efficiency, reliability, and product quality for projects such as installation of high-speed pouching/cartoning lines valued at over $20MM.
