For the primary container, Blow-Fill-Seal uses a much more compact supply chain than traditional glass vial filling or prefilled syringe formats.
This is due to BFS requiring only one primary material – pharmaceutical grade resin, which is typically either low-density polyethylene or polypropylene.
In addition, with BFS, the entire sequence of fill, finish and packaging operations can often take place in a single facility since many BFS manufacturers also house secondary packaging lines.
Finally, the BFS supply chain is also resilient, because pharmaceutical-grade resin can typically be sourced from multiple suppliers in major markets.
